Whitefly help!!!!

Aloha all,
Can whiteflies cause leaves to bend and break? Healthy green leaves just fold over. The underside of these leaves have one or two small spots of whiteflies. Eventually, the leaves turn yellow. Is something else causing the leaves to get weak and break? The rest of the plant is healthy. I am spraying each leaf and the underside with a neem oil.
This is a variegated ice cream so the leaf color is normal for this plant. Even my heliconia have the same problem.

Andrew: Had a big time whitefly problem on my Hibiscus. Read somewhere worm castings would get rid of them. I was skeptical but tried it and low and behold I haven't had a whitefly in a couple of years. The nutrients are absorbed by the plant causing the leaves to taste rotten to the little critters. Works for me? Good luck.

Have to agree, works very well on all my citrus, too!

Normally when I encounter that it's a sign of water stress. Are they getting enough water?

Thanks for the replies. I will look into the worm castings. Caliboy, they are all potted waiting for our house to be built (25 gallon pots). They are all doing this. The whiteflies are not excessive. I have never had leaves just bend and break without wind. I will keep an eye on the watering. It is 80 plus degrees here and humid all the time so the pots could dry out.

Could be a virus.

Whitefly transferred many plant viruses.

The worm castings do help. Spraying them with water works too, makes them move on to the neighbors plants. ;)

That is not the norm, I wish them luck though. Maybe someone should mention hosing down the little bastards. ;)

Would the leaves folding over be associated with whiteflies??

I have never experienced that problem due to whitefly. I think it's something else causing the problem. Virus, water, nutrients, climate, etc.

For example, whitefly usually attack the oldest weakest leaves, but even those don't fold.
