What happened to my banana plant?

I have a two year old cavendish plant in a container that has never fruited. I suspected it wasn't getting enough sun, so 2 weeks ago I moved it into direct sun. It now looks like all the leaves are dying. What happened? I live in zone 24 (Southern California).

hi Mitchjess im no pro by no means, but most plants and all new seedlings you have to harden off, by that i mean to slowly over the course of a week or more slowly give it a little more sun each day, maybe start it under a tree or some thing were it would get spots of shifting sun and shade. it is probrobly just sun burt if you put it right out in the full sun. it will be fine. must have been a typing error, but i never heard of zone 24, but if there is one i want to move there? hope this helps

Thanks for the information hydrojeff. I'll give it a try, although I thought by moving it in the winter, I'd avoid any shock to the plant. And to clarify, I'm in USDA hardiness zone 10, Sunset Magazine hardiness zone 24.

no problem for the info, the sun is still strong in the southern sky in zone 10, what i would give to live in a 10! anyway your plant will be just fine, the new leafs it will grow will be green and fine even if you leave it were you have it. and thats probrobly why it has not flowered yet, not enough sun and it needs lots or fert. and water. HAPPY GROWING!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you shocked it. It should recover, but you might do like Hydro said and ease it into the sun.
