variegated AeAe on e-bay
 

after various efforts to get a variegated namwa or 2, I went to ebay. found a seller with a variegated aeae, a bit pricy. the seller has a 100 rating and was out of texas. has pictures too, small plants. I bought one. .... I get a tracking no. from Puerto Rico not Texas. .... I get a message and the man says he has sent the plant and has given me a refund explaining he has some trouble with his paypal. .... wants me to send him money. .... ebay shows no refund, my paypal shows no record of the transaction and my bank shows no refund, but says it may take up to 10 days. ... now how does a man send me a refund but cant get onto his paypal. ... in numerous e-mails I assure the man that if I get a refund he will get his money. the man is persistent. ....here is what I got.

I went through a bunch of emails I think was the same person you are talking about. Constant problems and poor english. Same exact issues. Here is my last email with the person I did get the refund. I had to call ebay and paypal. Both said the person had the money and should have shipped. The person kept telling me they did not see my money. I ebay help me get my money back. I did get refunded.




Friend I refunded your 2 payment and send to my personal PayPal please send via payment and put is for banana because I not understand what happens please your banana out yesterday but if you can not make this no problem I refund anyway and reclaim the pkt back so please let me know if is ok to you please cheers

Hummm ... Looks like the seller is trying to ripoff ebay & paypal's commissions by cancelling the order (thus your refund) then ask you to send payment directly to him.

Tell him, that you will not send money until the refund is confirmed by your bank. Then send copies of his email to eBay and paypal. Ask for their confirmation that a refund has been issued.

It's been several years, but my recollection paypal with-holds payments for 2 weeks or more before releasing to the seller and only after confirmation that goods have been shipped (& may be received). ... I my case for a low cost item, ebay & paypal's high commissions wasn't worth the trouble to sell.

which seller is this? he needs to be avoided.

all ready told him he would not get his money until the refund was confirmed. and I got the plant, that is the picture of it. thanks

thank you. well my e-bay says I have paid. but i do not know what i have none the less. looked healthy enough when i potted it, but right now it could be a cypess knee. :lurk:

Exactly, if he is ripping off ebay & paypal, then it is likely he is not sending the banana variety offered and you have no way to recover your payment if sent directly to the seller.

Oh ... I believe the seller has only a few days (???) after notice to confirm the order was shipped. So without the seller doing anything, ebay will cancel the order and refund your money.

Send copies of the emails & transaction number to ebay customer service.

I've talked to them but I certainly wouldn't buy anything from them.

They sent this to another member.

It's easy enough to ship quality and there's no excuse for people who ship crap.

SCAM, If he's having trouble with his PayPal it's his problem not yours, he needs to fix it. edwmax is right, you don't know what you got. If you pay with PayPal you have 6 months to get refunded if it is not what you paid for.

in his defense [for my plant] it looked to be en excellent condition newly dug up. wish i would have took a pic out of the box.

I saw nothing that super alarmed me as far as theft. Just seemed to be a clueless person that I don't intend on buying from in the future. I did get my refund and best I can tell want me to just pay direct. I paid twice actually and needed 2 refunds. My first payment posted as an echeck and would not clear for several days. No idea why it went through that way. They said they wanted the money now so they could send so I sent through paypal using a credit card. The person then said they still did not get the money so I called ebay and ebay did confirm to me they were paid and did have my money and should be shipping. I take it from the jumbled word whatever you want to call it they were sending me that they sent the banana on good faith that I would pay direct. I should have had the plant by now so I doubt it was sent. But then again what could I understand from all of that mess?

i agree..a mess. and it is no crime to be computer illiterate. my worry now basically is how to pay him once i find i did get refunded and also how i will feel if he is actually paid and i cannot help him.

I bought a dwarf Gros Michel from PR Giant and the the plant is doing wonderfully ,so I would have no problem ordering from him in the future.
