In India mainly in Kerala they have a festival called Oman .during Oman season the people of Kerala serve their lunch in banana leaves and eat with bear hands

In the Pastaza province of Ecuador, we used them for making Maitos (we would wrap tilapia, palm grubs, palm heart in the banana leaves and cook over fire). Banana leaves were also used on the table before putting down the food.

thankyou,
banana leaves are unavoidable part of a festival ,called Oman .-
Just for a knowledge sake
We to make ada with rice flour ,grinded coconut ,sugar, and some salt ,get it steamed or fry it wrapping it with banana leaves.

as already mentioned here I have seen banana leaves used as table cloths, and as a covering or wrapping for food. I know Puerto Ricans use it to wrap up their "pasteles" which are similar to tamales but using plantain instead of corn.
