This belongs to a friend, and as far as he knows (he knows far more about 'nanners than me) this type was never classified or given a Hawaiian name. The p-stem is about 12-14 ft., fruit is edible but not very large, and the leaves have a reddish blush toward the outer portion. The color does not diminish even in large plants. I had a photo of a leaf that was still wrapped up that shows the most color, but it came out too dark. Sometimes a portion of the reddish part is not present, and looks like variegated green.
Single leaf Less intensely colored plant Larger one showing color Another large colored one New leaf beginning to open Smaller plant showing variegation of the red Different variegated leaf Once the pups get larger, I get one of these unknown 'nanners.
