Some winter garden pictures

Beside the wind blowing down the plants with fruit hanging several different times, the garden is doing pretty good I think. Here are some highlights.

Apple bunch that was blown down.

Jamaican Red bunch in the power wires. The green leaves are from another red in front of it. This plant has pretty much no healthy leaves left.

Orinoco bunch getting ready?

Pisang Klotek bunch still standing!

Hawaiian Apple stand showing some wear and tear! You can see my Dwarf Cavendish to the right.

Jamaican Red stand showing some winter color.

Heliconias, ginger, cannas and FHIA 18 in the center.

My Plumeria still with all it's leaves! Very unusual for this time of year in my neighborhood!

That's pretty much what's happening here. So far much better then the frosty winter that killed all the leaves last year. I have been eating a bunch of Hawaiian Apples that blew down months ago and even though they are not mature they are a taste sensation! The Reds that blew down just wouldn't ripen properly. All in all not so bad! :volleyballnaner:

put your bananas in a brown paper sack. it will ripen them in a few days. that is what i do when the only nanas they have at the store are green. just a suggestion.

I did that with the other bunch only I added some apples and an avocado to gas them up a bit. I'm fine with this one taking it's time so I can eat my way through the other bunch first! :chefnaner:

Mitchell - your tall nanas are as tatty as mine!! But looking good under the circumstances. Pity about the fruit but at least you saved them - just wish mine would get some!

magicgreen we have snakes here. thats why i have outside cats. last summer before my mom cat got hit by a car, she kept me from getting bitten by a black snake. i know they wont kill you but they can make you sick. she got a piece of steak that night. i wish she was still with us. i have 3 outside cats and they kill anything that moves. i have one that went after a deer. i wish id have had a video camera it was great. and even though the nana trees are a little tattered,i dont think they dont look all that bad to me anyways. i just love the duct tape idea!!!

Ahava,

Have hope! I live in zone 9 and I get fruit sometimes. It's usually touch and go with the weather but I have gotten fruit the past two or three years. Where do you live? I'm in the Houston area.
