Sikkimensis
 

I found this Sikkimensis pic from last year , it was a plant that Andrew in Holland pointed out to me in the middle of a crowd of green Sikkimensis at a Nursery in Holland . Anyway i bought it grew it and gave it to Andrew just before we moved to the US.
And that's the kind of Sikkimensis I'd like to grow here . I have seeds coming and will buy pups from people , I'll keep searching.

Wow. Yeah, if you find one like that, let me know, because I want one too! Never seen one like that here.

Yep , even some of the UKOasis boys thought that one was pretty good and these are guys who have been growing them outdoors so long that they have had flowers for past couple of years. One of the Members has a form with high colour and it's hardier than most , the high colour ones seem to be less hardy, but there are really Winter wimpy green ones too. Seems we all better keep growing from seed in search of the Cool Clone . My Sikki must have been a Tissue Culture sport , with the source being a normal Dutch chain nursery I cannot imagine it was from seed , these guys deal in dime a dozen plants. I'll talk to Andrew and see how the plant is doing it has been in his Sunroom for the Winter along with a lot of other great stuff.

p.s. Yes I do know they all go green when big ,But this one had a pup when I gave it away and that pup was just the same great colour as the main plant. Keep on Puppin

Joe , I'm no expert on Sikkimensis , some of the old gang at UKOasis have a lot of experience with this plant as a UK perhaps hardy plant gets a lot of attention. I'm not sure how many years they have been growing them. I think I was wrong when I said some hardiness is conected to colour , if I remember right it's just the luck of the draw on which , clone or seed you end up with. I was working on getting a hardier clone before I departed Europe. My plant which Andrew in Holland has ( Andrew is from BC Canada ) has not been tried outdoors yet , I guess when he gets a couple of pups to try outside he will do it . There must be a few plants here with good colour too it's just finding them . I have some seeds on order and will order more and keep hoping for a stunning Sikkis.

p.s. you could ask at UKOasis for more info , there are also members here like Mark Hall of UKOasis who would know more than me about hardy coloured forms.

Steve, here is one of mine. It's about a meter high so far, but has very strong colouring. And yes, like you I know that the colour will fade as it grow.

Yes Mark. It was Urban Jungle's.

And your one just looks virused. I would throw it, straight away before it infects the rest of your nanas! ;)
