Shout out to the West Coast of Florida

Anyone growing on the west coast of Florida? Im in Manatee county. We've had a crazy week of rain, 11.5 in. The yard is starting to be more land then water finally. How did everyone fair? I think almost all my nanners pushed another leaf or two in the storms, true nana necter as Hector says!!

I’m up here in Tampa. Rain, rain, rain, but bananas looking real good! Have yet to get a terminal leaf on any of them. I have several large ones that should pop about mid-Sept. so I’m hoping for a relatively warm winter.

Charlotte county, have a few clumps in a lower spot on property that flooded for a day a couple times in the last few weeks.. didn't lose any but not the best spot and they are going to be phased out to a different part of the property that is also a food forest build
I've had dwarf cavendish for years now and lost 2 very immature racks to frost, but I did not care for them properly either. Recent efforts and education are showing they love the proper care!

Hey Mike,

Are you out way east of 75 over there? If so, how was this winter for you.

I am west of i75, just a few miles off the coast actually. winters are little to no frost. Even heavily neglected, never thinned and barely feed bananas did fine with no damage last winter. Now that we have more property and I learned more about them and permaculture I'm guessing my results will be 10 fold previous years.

Hello fellow Manatee county banana lover! I just bought 3 banana plants for the first time as we just moved here and I couldn't wait to get some in the ground, hopefully this is a good time to do so. Still pretty scorching hot though. Looking forward to years of enjoying bananas.

I'm in Port Charlotte. It can rain buckets and buckets (like it does all the time) and my yard will drain in a couple hours. Very sandy. Two blocks away standing water in yards all the time.

Well.......... everyone got a mild winter last winter...... just I couldn’t benefit from it because my plants were 2 and 3 feet tall.
