problem with dark brown areas on skin and bananas inside.

Why are my banana flower tips often turning brown on the skin and then on the bananas?

Are my plants too wet? If I pull off a dead leaf there is lots of water behind it. But I was told that they can't get too much water when growing in sand.

I live in North Central Florida and grow my bananas in enriched sandy soil. I have three mats with bananas and all of them have the same problem with browning on part of the skin and then also on the banana. Luckily it was't on all of the fruit last year. But I want to stop it from happening this year.I

last year about 15% of my (over 400) bananas had bad spots on flower tip part of banana

the brown spots starting to show up on banana skins

my first bunch this year shows that they don't start with the brown spots.

I read elsewhere that this yellow brown edge might indicate too much water. Is that true?

the Cavendish with the new bunch.

Could it be cigar end rot disease? Caused by fungus.
