The price can vary a lot. Use your google to to find nurseries selling contain bananas (NOT SMALL TCs) to see their price. ... This one is local https://www.tytyga.com/Banana-Trees-s/1833.htm and another one: https://justfruitsandexotics.com/sho...Banana%20Trees

I know some landscapers that buy bananas from framers/plantations with large mats for $3 each (dig-your-own).

The big box stores in the spring may have bananas (2 ft tall plus) for $20 to $35 each. .... Online sells (individual growers) are usually $15 to $30 plus shipping.

The us is a lot cheaper than the UK. Banana are everywhere. And easier to get. I feel in the UK even the namwah is hard to find. I feel like it’s more around the £100-200 mark. But thanks for the info. There aren’t many banana rare tropical sellers but the manzano abs Siam even the blue java are very rare. Abs mine are pupping like mad!

I would consider determining the absolute minimum price you are willing to accept, put it on Ebay with that as a reserve and then let the market determine what it's worth. May not be a fantastic predictor of regional differences, but it will give you an idea of what people are willing to pay.

Yeah bro maybe that’s a good idea. I bought the plants for 100$ last year. Before brexit and covid making everything hard. Gonna get some more but want to
Try increase the banana Range in the UK to make it affordable for all. Ima an apprentice and poor so I know it can be hard to have this as a hobby.

Well that was what you asked for "...or USA ...". while Bananas may be every where most owners do not know what they have. And since Bananas are difficult to fruit, most buyers don't even try and just buy Ornamental bananas sold by many larger nurseries. .... In 2016 I had to drive more than 900 miles to get replacement bananas (40 or 45 plants; 8 or 9 varieties: don't remember the exact numbers) when my banana patch was wiped out that year. .... Still in most places one can not just run to Wal Mart to get a Namwah; Gros Micheal; or a Blue Java.

Yeh i know. Thank you for the information. The USA is great. More common and everywhere but heee all we have is the cavendish/ grain nain. I wish it was that easy hwre I bought a banana for like $100 or 90£ cause there just not here. But it’s nice to have a banana plant thags ice cream for example
For a collection. People collect cars and cards so why not bananans lol

Re: Pricing of banana

I paid $9.99 a plant for a dwarf Namwa and dwarf Cavendish (TC’s). Plus the $9.99 flat rate shipping at Florida Hill Nursery.

However, they are smaller plants and harder to get growing from what I hear. I also bought a $42 3’ dwarf Cavendish at Lowe’s (only thing available and not cold hardy) so I could enjoy the bigger plant now and see the leaves blowing in the light winds. It will most likely die if I don’t over winterize it in 9a. :-)

Just curious if you have overwintered that beauty outside, and if so, what kinds of temps did you experience?

We had a fairly mild winter this year and I still don't think mine made it, not 100% certain yet but not looking promising.

The St. Helens? Or all the other banana?
The St. Helens was in an unheated area of my polytunnel so it went down to 1 but never a hard freeze. And it survived. This was along with the orninco and namwah basjoo and manzano
But the blue java Siam and gros Michel all had heat to get them through

I did try a St. Helens outside tho. But we had a -7 in southeast uk and it did die but it was small!

Re: Pricing of banana

Thank you. Yes I was talking about the Helen's Hybrid. Sorry to hear the outdoor plant didn't survive, glad you had a backup and glad the other plants came through nicely.
