Preserving leafs
Anyone done it? I would love to save a couple large DC leafs.
I found this video Preserving Leaves for Crafts - Better Homes and Gardens Basically just mix a solution of glycerin and water and let the leaf absorb it up. Wouldn't the large leaf end up just dripping all its water out thus ruining the solution? Maybe I could use one of those food saver vacuum sealers? :waving: |
Re: Preserving leafs
I know if you're going to cook with them, you can freeze banana leaves. I suppose if you wanted to make one of those cement hypertufa things with them, they would be ok if they'd been previously frozen. I know the glycerin works with oak leaves and brings out lots of color in them. But they are quite a bit stiffer than banana leaves. Check and see how much the stuff costs and let that be your deciding factor, that's how I usually operate around here...lol...

Re: Preserving leafs
freezing is the most economical and ready to use when needed. My wife always does that because banana leaves are rare to find here in my area.
