Newest leaf out is 2 feet or more shorter than previous leaves. Stem is over 12'.. :^)

Could be. What is it? I have a dwarf oricono hanging for months,namwah for a month,now cavendish sending out a flower at 6 ft.

Well its not a White Iholena. The stem is 13' on the money, and here are 2 more pics.. Leaves have same shape and coloration of my DB except this bad boy is a fast growing monster.. :^)



Here is a better angle.. The tallest bunch of leaves in the center.. another clue to its identity is there are several leaves that broke @ the brach due to the very heavy leaves..

Having never had a banana yet flower (my 1st has been in the ground nearly 5 months--Dwarf Cavendish my eye! P stem is 4.5'!), I have no experience. However, I did have what appeared to be a much smaller leaf coming along about 2 weeks ago. I knew it wasn't a flag on my child but it really did seem odd. Same leaf is 4' x 2' now. With all your talk of winterizing, I hope yours waits to flower.

It maybe a Pre Pre since I took a closer look and there is another leaf coming up that is short(er) and is opening up already.. :^)

Well I wanted to show how much shorter the leaf is since I was on the roof trimming branches back away from the roof on the other side, but a nice view.. Leaf is 3' shorter than previous leaf..



A good view almost to center so show how short the leaf is that is opening up since you can't see it.. Wind blew that big leaf right of center in the way.. :^)

I'm hoping it's not but so far that's smaller than the little leaf my baby DC was trying to put out just before I went out of town on 9/30. Came home and found it had caught up.

ETA: Do bananas have no clue about when is the proper time to flower? Days getting shorter...

Gotcha. That's it! No more coffee grounds and banana peels! Not that I drink much coffee and the only peel she received wasn't mine. I found it lying beside my little girl one day so I stuck it under the grass clippings. Nobody admits leaving it (how would they know to do so?) but my very lush DC (only thing I've grown well thus far) is admired by those who take a shortcut between my neighbor's home and mine; the other specimens in the neighborhood have about 4 leaves, are about 3' tall at best and sure don't look like bananas.

Of course, it's very possible the banana fairy left it....

I was on a ladder today and I can tell it has at least 3 hands, but can't tell how many fingers.. That long flower kinda got in the way.. I think I'd need a taller ladder to thing about bagging this one.. :^)

Did a trade for a White Iholena, maybe I can get some feedback after the hands come out or can fill a bit? I just know it grows like a raped ape. :^)
