I'm sorry if some people have misunderstood my intentions, which were purely to assist the banana-fanatics of this community. I can assure you, financial motives never even crossed my mind when I made the decision to post you all that offer. It was simply to help you all get something you wanted sooner & eliminate the risk. I do not get excited about selling a handful of plugs, however I do enjoy getting unique & rare plants into the hands of people who truly appreciate them.

In the future I will clear ideas such as this with Jarred.

The offer still stands for those interested, just email me the list of members interested & I will pass it on to Brian.

To adress the issue about what exactly this plant is, I will add my thoughts. I was first showed this plant over 3 years ago, before it was offered anywhere, I have pictures of the the original ones. Now from what I have been told, it was found in the wild in Indonesia somewhere and it is my opinion it is just a red mutant of a wild Musa acuminata subspecies. You can't be sure weather it is a new subspecies or a mutant of one without doing extensive field work. But I belive it is rather safe to say it is NOT edible and is seeded. I have many Musa acuminata ssp. zebrina with so much red they come close to this 'Siam Red'.

It was just one guy letting off some steam. If Brian is willing to let us here acquire 1 "siam red" for the price he has stated, then why not? It will not be till next year if i read his post right. i would trust that one of bananas.org creators or one of the many senior members could take names, make a list etc... even collect money? i just think that this is a great break for all of us here in the forum. Thanks to Ty and Brian again.

The offer would be 1 banana each person at 45.00 plus shipping. This will only be offered for a short time after the window is closed no one else will be added to the list. I would not want payment till the plants are here and ready. For people out of the country if someone is willing to ship people plants out of the country they can make their own list and I will send them a few to ship out to our friends over seas. I do not ship out of country due to laws and problems that tend to occur.
As for the future of the banana it will be sold by a handful of friends for the next few years. These people are friends and run similar operations like I do. It is small hobbiest nurseries like this that bring new plants to the market and produce new hybrids. Keeping me and others like me in buisness will help keep the market fresh and exciting.

How wonderful that Agri-Start contacted Brian & led him to our little 'banana collective'!

If Keith(?) is going ahead w/his original aquisition/pupping plan I'll honor my pledge for that one as well (no backing out) - doesn't do any harm for backup plans & I've committed. So that one is in his ballpark to decide. I've already handed my kids my Xmas list ... banana funding! (makes me ever so easy to shop for - just make out the check to Mom, kids! LOL!)

Next year is gonna be a good year for nanner growin'!

Count me in for a Siam Red, tho this seems a bit disorganized at this stage.
Keith, I felt before that you got sorta conscripted into this project, but if you still plan to buy a plant and tc a pup, I'll be happy to contribute. I'd also like to see a 'wiki' on tissue cloning bananas. I'm at the "buy a kit from Agri-Starts" stage, but want to know more about it. As a hobby, it looks pretty addictive.
