Who delivered it? Dell or UPS?

UPS has been screwing up a lot lately. At a golf course in Mandeville they ordered some retardent for the grass. It's $5000 for a 5 gallon bucket's worth. Of course, like any golf course, it says Country Club as part of the name. Where did they deliver it to? A different Country Club. Why?

They didn't bother to look at the address.

Luckily they didn't know what to do with it, as in, what it was, and just put it in storage. The other Country Club figured it out and went and got it.

Yesterday I was at my friend's B&B working on some plants in the yard and then doing research online. UPS stops. They guy looks at me and asks me what the address is. I can never remember because I don't need to so I said I have no idea - who is it for?

It was at the right place but he didn't know it. That's great.

Regardless of that, someone GAVE me a Dell desktop. It had 18 Trojan viruses in it, he said "Ahhh it'll be easy to fix." I spent 3 hours on the phone with Dell. I wound up doing 2 things with them - being nice and being mean. Neither worked. They are SCREWBALLS. So I smashed the computer and called them back up and told them - they didn't GET IT.

So I will never buy from Dell, partially because they outsource most of their customer help to India, and I don't ever really use UPS or anyone else but if I did, it won't be UPS. At least for now.

UPS delivered it to the wrong address. Mistakes happen. Life goes on.

Hey, everyone, thought you'd like to know that Scot sent a very brief e-mail about four hours ago just to say that he had landed safely in China!

He said he'd write more later once he finds an Internet cafe.

I was feeling kind of sad today, like we had lost Scot, so this made a nice ending to my day.

Thanks,

Harvey

Why would he be unsafe?

Thanks for the postings, Harvey and Paulo. We need to keep Scot on the board in mind if not yet in actuality.

The first 2 boxes of TC equipment were shipped by Scot to me via UPS on Monday, 07/20, and I got them on Wednesday, 07/22.

On that same day, 07/22AM, Scot sent me a third box, containing the plants I bought from the auction, via UPS. In the PM, he sent me a 4th box with TC equipment via FedEX. The FedEX package, as I reported earlier arrived the following Saturday, 07/25AM. The UPS package made a tour of the US, stopping at 7 cities to Doraville, GA before being rerouted back to Seatlle, WA via Hodgkins, IL and who knows what other cities. To add insult to injury, here is the condition of the package.

Looks like they heeded the Fragile warning sticker, huh?

Here's what it looks like inside, the plants had shrunk and are very dehydrated:

I had the delivery man open it, and he acknowledged that the contents were damaged. The package originally weighed 30.1 pounds, but I doubt if the package now weighs anywhere that. The delivery guy also acknowledged that. Then, talking to alleged Customer Service for relief was like pulling teeth again and I had to ask to talk to 2 levels of management before I could get a reasonable resolution. They wanted me to contact the shipper, even after I repeatedly told them that he was already in China. The they told me that what they have to do is get it inspected for the damage, then send it back to the shipper, where they would attempt to get hold of him three times before doing anything to it. I told them that that would be unacceptable because if at that time they decide to destroy the package, I would not be able to get my money back. If they again were to return the package to me, the contents my be worthless by then. So, after almost an hour of haggling, they finally decided to have an inspector come to the house to inspect the box. If the inspector confirms the damage, I would still need Scot to file a claim. And I don't know if the inspector is going to let me keep the materials.
