A new plant from a Dead Pstem ???

Today I was watching this video...........and what I saw was strange............at least to me.........

I´m talking about a new Banana plant............coming right from the middle of a dead Pstem...............

I thought that when people harvest the bunch........the Pstem will rot........

In fact the Pstem did rot.................but....a new plant emerge...............

This is tottaly new to me................and I´m thinking in left one of my plants rot until it "dissolved" totally............to see if a new plant emerge from the middle...........

look the video......

Wow! That thing had new plants starting all over it. I wonder if it died back due to a frost, and not due to fruiting.

Whatever happened, it's cool. I have never seen that before. I thought that when a stem died it was all over for it. I did know that pups would start from the sides, but not the middle. Thanks for posting the video.

I guess it depends what you mean by dead and rotted.
Momoese Mitchell gave me this pKlotek stump.
The corm or the part below the soil line
still had viable roots.
Eventually after a month, the stump had
vertical growth protruding from the center.
:0519::0519::0519::0519::0519:

Stump was cut at a 45 degree angle.
New and emergent growth showing@the center.

Cool.........

Its a common practice chop the uper parts of the large pups when they are removed from the mat.............

And the new growth come from the center..............

Very similar apparence...........but is different from the growth that are comming from that dead stump...........

This one come from a removed pup..........

In the video it seems that the bunch was already collected................I don´t know........????

This is strange to me...........kkkkkkk

I´m thinking that they collected the bunch..............chop the stump..............and then the stump was left with the mat....................

The stump rot............and then the new pup emerge............

I´m familiar with new pups grow..............I had to manage many of them............chopping the uper parts to promote the new growth............

Another issue is about the size of this sprout..........its a large stuff that are emerging.............not a common sprout...........

???

I never saw such thing.........kkkkk

Another possibility is that they never collected a bunch from this stump...........then I agree that a new plant emerge from the stump..........
