New Here: Nice to meet you all

Hi all,

I am Fred. I have been growing bananas for a few months now.

Currently I have

Musa Basjoo 5 ft tall, currently diseased need help: Black rust / mark on all leaves and stem of musa basjoo - Bananas.org

Musa Iterans 3 ft tall

Musa Velutina pup

Ensete Maurelii 2ft tall

Previously kept Musa Laprioscopa for years.

So I have quite a bit of experience but not enough it seems, given the issues with my Musa Basjoo at the moment.

If anyone wants to say hi or help me out with my Basjoo. Would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Fred (UK).

Hi Fred, can you give more information please,
What soil mix are you using is it free draining?
What size pots, could go in the ground if your South Uk
Location of the Basjooie full sun/ shade,
What are you feeding it,
Is the leaf an old leaf or new one.

Looks in good shape to me, mine are torn from the wind!!!!
Cheers Darryl

Hi Darryl,

Soil mix is standard compost non dense mix for potting plants. Free Draining.

Recently upgraded from a 9 Litre to a 29 Litre/7.25 Gallon pot. I want to keep in a pot in case I have to move out.

Growing in a conservatory, with some sunlight and shade. Never been in full sunlight.

I have been occasionally feeding a synthetic fast acting fertilizer for banana plants.

The black marks are on old and newish leaves. Latest leaves do not have these marks but I expect that to change. Currently on 90% of the leaves.

There is a lot of Guttation from the plant which tells me I am overwatering it.

Cheers, Fred
