In live in a sandy soil area south of S.A. Tx ...I'm wanting a tree with good tasting fruit but don't know what to buy so what do you'll suggest?

With the weather you've got, I'd suggest you wait...

You can never go wrong with Namwah (tall or dwarf). They are delicious and a great prolific beginner plant when taken properly care of.

Any idea where to find these in Nor cal (SF area)? Doesn't seem like many places sell these, for some reason.

I posted in the For Sale/Trade thread, but no responses.

These sound like a perfect one to try.

I live in San Antonio also. I am wanting to try my hand at planting a few also.

Did anyone get in contact with you regarding where to buy the trees here locally? or can someone just give up a couple pups?

Send me a PM, I grow both varieties.
But this was not the reason why I have recommended it. I truely believe that they are a delicious and easy to grow variety. It was my very first banana plant and it is definitely "a keeper".

I'm in the central valley. Its very hard to find a decent banana selection Your almost better off ordering in the bananas you want and selling off the pups. I started off with a crappy Lowe's banana and a unidentified craigslist special. I wanted selection and variety so I ended up eating some shipping and ordered from different places in Florida. I now have over a dozen varieties

Good luck

DO NOT EVER order from TYTY in GA
Tree & Plant Nursery | Order Online & Ship Free Nationwide

I have had one hell of a fight with them for the plants that they shipped...

1. Plants were not what I ordered.. I ordered a fruiting size tree they sent a small pup... (about 23 inch tall from bottom of root)
2. They were damaged due to improper handling/packing

TYTY nursery pretty much washed their hands of all responsibility for the shipment. wouldn't replace damaged goods or even send correct trees.

Luckily enough I had the plants back in the mail by the third business day so I should get a full refund. still waiting on that though.
