My new 'Ae Ae' pup

A very good friend surprised me and sent me an 'Ae Ae' pup. I'm open to any tips to help defy the odds of growing an 'Ae Ae' here in the Central Valley of California where recent temperatures have been about 100F+ with humidity of 20%, though today may not even reach 90F (at 2:40pm it's 86F and 29%). Our winters get cold. We normall have at least a few days of light frost but this past January we had several straight days in the low 20s. I have a heated shop with a sunny window and will bring my 'Ae Ae' inside during this winter and probably future winters unless I get myself a greenhouse. I took this photo minutes after arrival (though not visible in this photo, there are some roots emerging) and it is not in a "5 gallon" pot with a mixture of potting soil (SuperSoil brand), a little steer manure, some Osmocote for acid-loving plants, and watered with Miracle Grow's Miracid. I now have the potted plant in my shop so it will avoid getting too much sun and drying air. Once it is growing pretty well, I will move it outside under a tree that lets in filtered sunlight. Weather in October is usually still fairly warm though nights will likely get down into the 50s.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Harvey
