My Fruiting M. 'Truly Tiny'
I previously posted about my M. 'Little Prince' here:
http://www.bananas.org/f2/my-bloomin...nce-48387.html There was a larger plant on the right, ![]() but, I wasn't sure whether it was a different variety, even though the one on the left was sold as "Little Prince' and the one on the right 'Truly Tiny." Since the bananas on the 'Truly Tiny' are much larger than the ones on 'Little Prince,' I have concluded that the one labeled as 'Truly Tiny' is indeed a different variety. Here is a photo of the bananas which are still green: ![]() These bananas are almost as thick as regular bananas. The pseudostem is 31" high. |

Congrats
The plants look healthy in your greenhouse. Those plants are one of my favorites. I hope the bunch fills well for you.:08: |

Re: My Fruiting M. 'Truly Tiny'
Pictures below were taken today. Flag leaf picture in above link was taken on 7/26/18. That is 6 months ago. BTW, it was -6 degrees F. last night.
Bananas turned yellow and started dropping off: ![]() ![]() The above banana weighs 144 g. It also tastes like a regular store bought banana. But, unlike a store bought banana, this banana and the ones from the plant labeled as 'Little Prince,' when peeled, have slightly fibrous strands from the peel remaining on the surface of the banana. I still suspect that my plants labeled as "Little Prince' and 'Truly Tiny' are the same. Under the hypothesis that, all else equal, the mass of a banana fruit is proportional to the cube of the pseudostem length, assuming the plants are the same variety, the predicted mass of this banana is: 110*(31/25)^3 = 210 g. Well, back to the old drawing board. |
Re: My Fruiting M. 'Truly Tiny'
Truly tiny and Little Prince are both Cavendish varieties, same as store bought, so the taste is no surprise.
