Mushrooms in banana plant pot

I have a super dwarf Cavendish Novak banana plant in a large pot. It seems to be very healthy as is growing quickly, but I recently noticed mushrooms growing in the pot. Do I need to get rid of them? Are the mushrooms a symptom of a problem I need to cure? Look at the mushrooms in the pot here: https://app.box.com/s/b92x9s491wariu8rjvwe7kgukbburr2r.

I am no banana expert but I certainly don't worry about mushrooms sharing space with my other outdoor potted plants (haven't had this occur indoors), especially if the plant is doing well. And, there may be some symbiosis going on there too.

Thanks, sirdoofus. Just to be clear, the plant is outside on a lanai enclosed by a pool cage.

I get lots of shrooms around my out door plants, they're there in the morning and then gone or wilted down to nothing when I get home in the evening .

I figured it was from the cow manure compost I have put on the ground, Have you used any manure compost?

This is my take on shrooms.

I am with Bushwack and Mike.

Much of the local Supersoils(soils high in organics and compost sold @ 50.00 a yard) sold locally will have a shroom bloom within a few months.
Much of the black landscape mulch has a high content of fungal spores.
The result could look like yellow /orange puke to the typical mushroom.
The product is not pasteurized so to speak.

When installing new plant beds this is what is recommended.
Basjoos love this stuff.

Re: Mushrooms in banana plant pot

I looked at the mushrooms again late this afternoon, and now they're wilted. The banana plant is growing like gangbusters!

buskwack: Sounds about right. I'm growing the plant in Burpee potting soil into which I've added extra perlite.

cincinnana: So do you treat the mushrooms to get rid of them, or do you just let them be? My inclination is to just let things be.

Nothing to worry about, IMO. Time to celebrate the fact your banana is growing like ganbusters:D

True story....

A neighbor gets a landscape refresh with black aged mulch....
A week later it looks like a frat party pukes on their bushes.

Great colors and textures w/o the chunks.

Re: Mushrooms in banana plant pot

Not to hijack my own thread, but I have two questions:

1. When can I expect to see fruit appear? I received the super dwarf Cavendish Novak from the dealer four months ago, when it had about 3 leaves. That's when I potted it, changing pots three times already. Growing like gangbusters.

2. When can I expect to see a pup?

Thanks.

If we are talking about food and culinary recipes, I will say that my favorite mushroom would be shiitake, but about medicinal mushrooms, there are many of them, and it all depends on the condition you are treating, but my personal favorite will have to be dried reishi and you can see about them on the site that I put above. I came across this website and the topic of medical mushrooms purely by chance when I was traveling (when we were still allowed to do that), and I was in China for a few weeks.
