Musa Sikkimensis-Red Tiger sprouted in just over a week!
 

I soaked them for 2 days in boiled and cooled filtered water in a ziplock baggy in a plastic bowl sitting on top of my cable box for heat. I then put them in a mini greenhouse and sat it on top of my cable box as well. I leave it there from the time I get home from work till I get up for work in the morning then I take it off of the heat and set them in my bright south facing kitchen. I got the seeds off of eBay and they came straight from India. I only bought 10 and 3 have sprouted already! Here's a pic of them only about 2 weeks since I put them in the greenhouse.

Might I ask the source of the seeds? Looks like an interesting banana and would like to try it here in central Florida. Have not had a lot of luck with seeds but will try and try again.

Thanks, yeah I wasn't expecting them to sprout as fast as they did I was kinda hoping they'd sprout at the end of winter so I wouldn't have to take care of them inside all winter...LOL

Here's a link to the person I got them from they only have a few left so if you want to try them you better hurry.

I plan on updating this as they grow I guess one advantage of having them sprout early is ill have bigger plants next growing season!

Wish me luck, just ordered 10 seeds and will attempt to get them up and running. If they sprout they should enjoy Florida's nice weather. My finger nails will never stay clean.

The seeds got here and I soaked them for awhile, even scratched one to see if it made any difference, it didn't. Of the ten four sprouted and are doing good. So happy with them that we ordered more seed. Hope we have the same good luck with them. Thanks again and we will post some pics soon.

Thanks for posting the link to the supplier.
I just ordered some myself. Given that they sprouted so quickly for you, I think I'm going to hold off planting them for a few weeks. I planted some balbisiana seeds last year thinking they may take up to three months to sprout but they were growing within 10 days. I had to nurse them under artificial light and heat for 4 to 5 months before it was warm enough to plant them out.
I look forward to seeing further pics their progress.

Sikkimensis sprout now several weeks old.



5 sprouts and 2 still sitting there.
Intents are to fertilize with weak solution of Miracle Grow for a few times and if they are large enough they will get repotted to 1 gallon pots. Keep those hands dirty.
