Musa 'Rose' flowering

First off, my normal computer is getting fixed and the one im on can't handle pictures, so I apologize about that lack of pictureage, but i promise they will be up as soon as possible!!!

Well, ive been growing bananas for almost 4 years now and finally have my first flower! Its my Musa 'Rose' that I got from Going Bananas almost exactly 2 years ago, so 24 months to flowering, but hey, thats not so bad for a container grown banana in the mountains of Colorado don't ya think? Its growing in a 15gal (about) container and has 7ft of pseudostem on the flowering stalk. Ive cared and babied for this plant since day one and she's finally giving me a gift back. As of right now, the infloresence is still slowly making its way out of the top of the pseuodstem.

Again, im sorry, but youre gonna just have to use your imaginations until my computer is fixed.

That's great, Gabe! I like that variety, will have to try it one day.

I work in the greenhouses at UT, and the professor has several potted musa velutina that he uses for educational purposes. Four of the plants were in small, clay pots, and were so rootbound is wasn't even funny. I repotted all of them into larger plastic pots with a good soil mix, fertilized them, and now one of the pseudostems is pushing a bloom at just over a foot tall! I'll try to get a pic of this one soon.

Get that darn camera fixed, Gabe!

The bunch is usually horizontal, and doesn't hang down like most bananas. Also, their trunks are pretty slender, so support is a good idea.

OK, that photo is pretty funny.

Congrats on your flowering, Gabe. I have not had such luck in my several/many years of naner growing. Mine have resorted to dying back on me every winter :(

Looking forward to hearing about the Rose fruits. Is the plant outside now? What size pot?
