Got cha!

Speaking of filtered light. My Dwarf Cavendish form Lowe’s has had ZERO SUN for the last 7 days. It’s been raining in my area of Texas for a week. Despite zero sun and tons of rain and full clouds...this thing is still growing. Unbelievable how quick these plants grow even in poor conditions.

Re: Looks like I may not receive my order from Florida Hill Nursery.

As you can see I am following all the advice I’m getting and the plants are under the porch. I don’t have a big yard to work with, but it will be a jungle before it’s all over with. Haha.

I just did several PassionFruit- Passiflora edulis clippings, planted some Sugarloaf Pineapples. So hopefully these will get going. I plan to grow the passionfruit controlled as best as possible on a trellis. Or I could send it up the tree and spread it to the entire neighborhood. Haha. No, I’m not gonna do that.

yeah Filtered sunlight, sorry I could have worded that better. and yes more like 50% perlite for better drainage. Mix it in thoroughly. Before planting. :)

Larry I really appreciate your expert advice. It’s amazing how fluffy the substrate becomes with more Perlite! I can see how this would allow better drainage and help with aeration. If you look at that one pic I’ve drilled the bottom of the pot, making larger holes for better drainage as well. Drill bit about the size of a finger. Probably close to 1/2”

Reading all I have been reading about Florida Hill plenty of good and bad, I figured it's only money and ordered two banana's from them Zebrina and Siam Ruby. Used Paypal for payment for some added security.

I was sent a order received email within a day, and USPS tracking within two days and should be here 6/5/21 so well shall see. I will try and remember to post pics of them. I would assume the species they are should be easily recognizable as getting what I ordered.

Wish me luck......

I recently received a order from you and am totally happy with product and advice you gave me.

I'm mostly a collector of palm trees and have bought from various vendors. Just like palm tree nurseries, I've yet to find a Banana vendor that offers "everything" so when given choices are limited on specific species, sometimes you have to roll the dice and try. Even if reviews are mostly 50/50

I won’t order from them again because you can’t be sure what you really have.

Order a Blue Java and document it. :-)

it's not 50/50.
He's been banned from here for BS and his dishonesty.
You're supporting someone who is not trusted and therefore enabling him to continue to do so.

Here you go, you can see the very post that got him banned:

Re: Looks like I may not receive my order from Florida Hill Nursery.

So...received my first Florida Hill order today two days early.

Zebrina

Siam Ruby

Packaged well, both bananas labeled

both "look" to be what I ordered.

At this point I will say it's a WIN and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

Can't load pics here for some reason, but in gallery

I really wish you wouldn't support that guy. He's been banned from here for a reason and most of us will not support that guy.
But you do what you have to do....

Thanks for posting the pics. It's been a few years since I've been on this site and it's much different to attach pictures from other forums I'm on.

appreciate the tutorial. Didn't see that.

Key word… “LOOK” to be what you ordered. I’d say the majority of reviews say that the guy cannot be trusted. It’s obvious that people on this forum feel the same way. The guy is not trustworthy.

I’ll never order from him again. I emailed him several times with no response. There’s no phone number to call. No customer service at all. What if you don’t get what you ordered…guess what…you’re screwed. Plain and simple.

He got me once because I didn’t read the reviews, but it won’t happen again. Be sure if that. Best of luck with your order and I hope it is what you ordered. I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Did you get your plants from Florida Hill Nursery. I live in Florida, this company looks like its only an online company with no physical address. I buy Banana plants from them using paypal, they shipping is always very fast, and the plants are packaged well, and get to me very healthy. But yes there is no number to call them or talk to them, I always get feedback about my shipment from PayPal
Thanks

Received my 3rd order from them over the past 4? weeks today. Fastest order processing and delivery that I've encountered from any online vendor.

Communication poor? absolutely...more like non existent.

As a test I sent them a question about a banana species to see simply if they ever offer it. It was a sincere question, but also wanted to see if the stories I had heard were true. To this day, question has never been responded to.

Yet...I know they read their contact forms because on this last order there was a order mix up for the 3 elephant ears I wanted where it turned it into 3 orders(even through paypal) Sent FHN a message on their contact tab and within the hour had two credits so they DO read them, just don't reply. Which is sad because everything else has been top notch.

A few things are legitimately hard to get past I suppose. They (pretty much) knowingly sell plants incorrectly advertised (the nam-java for example). So say it's not their fault and that they buy one thing and it's another, they KNOW this and it should be disclosed. At least attempt to make it known. Then there's the zero interaction thing. Lastly just read "the thread". There's a link somewhere.

The fact is I've bought and other than getting what I'm sure will be something other than what I bought most everything have been rockets. Hey I was bored and spring came early. I needed some toys but I have come to the conclusion that it's probably best not to support them. There are great people on this forum that can satisfy my needs.....oh dang that came out wrong but you get my drift.
