Looking to share the cost of 1 ton of fertilizer Tampa FL area

From what I have read a 6-2-12 Fertilizer is good for bananas in Florida. Stokes sells it but it is pricey. The grow-Mor company in plant city Florida said they would make me some but I have to get a ton for the special mix. It runs about 300-350 dollars a ton. Pretty cheap but I don't have the room to store 2000 lbs. of fertilizer. Anyone in the area want to go in with me ?

THAT is an excellent N-P-K for bananas anywhere. At $2.92 / pound of nitrogen it is an excellent value. If you can't find a partner, you could either go into business selling it or consider making your own by combining something like 6-3-1 and 0-0-12 standard granulars.

I wanted to combine a 8-2-8 with a 0-0-22 but I am not sure of the correct ratio. I would think 4 parts to one would get me about a 8-2-13 mix but the guy at the fertilizer place says it doesn't work that way. I can get those mixes in 50 pound bags. So I have been using the 8-2-8 with a top dressing of the 0-0-22. It seems to work but i would like to have the correct mix if I could.

One problem with mixing it all in one bag is the granulars can be different in size and weight, causing the proportion of one to be greater at the bottom of the bag.

Your proportion is correct if you measure by weight. If your bananas are in the ground or a large tub (100 gal), I would apply to each plat 1 pound of 8-2-8 each month, and an additional 1/4 pound of 0-0-22 along with it.

Most of the granulars weight 1/2 pound per cup, so that's 1 pint 8-2-8 plus 1/2 cup 0-0-22 per month. If you don't have a scale, check it at your grocery store or post office.

I would be willing to take 100lbs if you are still looking for someone to go in on it with you. Let me know.
