Jarred, when did you purchase that plant? Congrats!!!

Re: Ladyfinger blooming pics

Almost exactly two years ago! I'm pretty sure it was July 11th when I received it and it was about a foot tall, give or take, with just a few grams of corm.
It was a tissue cultured banana, a test tube baby!

:bebe:

The bud is vertical now, hanging nicely.
I need to brace the plant before one of these summer squalls kicks it to the dirt.
Tomorrow or the following day I'll have the first glance at the bananas inside. The two starter bracts have opened already and the next one to fold back should be the one covering the female flowers.
I'll probably get out the ladder and take some nice macro pix of the flowers.
This is really a very beautiful banana plant, so tall and graceful.

Hey, Jarred, did you ever take any more photos of this plant/fruit? I'd like to know more about it since I've bought that nice plant from you.

Thanks,

Harvey

Yes I have some great pics and I'm really behind on uploading them. I will get them all posted one of these days...
The bunch is doing great, the bananas are filling out very nicely and the yield was very good.
I'll probably offer the fruits of this plant in the fruit swap forum within the next couple of months if anybody wants to taste them.

Well if we time it right we could do it.
I'll post the thread now so that when they do get picked, I can ship them right away to those that want them. We can start getting the list ready now..

Nice! Will you be supporting raceme? If not, please explain why and what would make you reconsider.

Thanks,

Harvey

Thanks Anna!
Don't forget, if you click the pics a few times they will blow up so you can see the detail.
Cheers!

Re: Ladyfinger blooming pics

Hi Harvey!
It is supported!
This one I braced to the wall, if you look closely you will see the clear vinyl tubing wrapped around the crown.
This was the easiest solution because I have a track for hurricane shutters that was right there, and very simple to attach the twine to.
