Re: It's happening!
Takes 4 months depending on variety, that's with warm temps. Don't take pups off until the bananas have all set.

Re: It's happening!
Hello again,
When I posted this back in January someone said labor day is when they might ripen. Well it's not labor day yet, but I'm growing impatient.... :bananas_b Also, I've been seeing here and on the interwebs that Blue Java take only 150 days, but it has been well past that. So I'm wondering if something is wrong... I took photos of what they look like today. I've seen some posts about how there is bait and switch and some sellers say they are blue java but they are not. Are these maybe not blue java? I didn't buy them from anyone here, I bought them locally. Am I maybe not watering enough? I water every other day with a drip sprinkler and several emitters for like 10 mins. They should be getting plenty of sunlight and it's plenty warm here. Lows in the high 60s, highs in the low 80s. Thanks again https://ibb.co/NN8yx71 https://ibb.co/hm5n0hg |
Re: It's happening!
It doesn't look like there are very many good quality leaves on the plant to fill out such a healthy size bunch in the normal four-five month time frame. Fewer leaves = more time for the fruit to develop. The fruit looks clean i.e. no weathering or cracks so I would just let it ride as long as there are functioning green leaves.

1. Save a photo on Dropbox (other file sharing sites will also work). 2. Copy the Dropbox link to the photo 3. In a Bananas.org post, click on the little photo icon with the picture of the sun over the mountain. 4. Paste the link into the box. 5. At the very end of the link that was just pasted in, change "dl=0" to "raw=1" 6. Click OK Here is a sample photo that I just inserted using the above procedure: ![]() |
Re: It's happening!
The problem most people have posting photos are they are trying to upload a file over 2mg. You have to resize the photo to less than 2, then retry. Thst can be done pretty quickly and easily with an app. Once you resize them upload them one at a time.
