How long can baby bananas sit in water?
Thanks for the advice so far.
Ok so 50 of my baby agri-starts banana plants are in the soil outside. I covered areas where they were getting too much sun but we've had a rainy weekend and some of them-partly because they were planted a bit lower than surface level ( holes deeper than the fill used to cover them) many of the bananas have 6 inches of water around them. There's not much I think I can do and its cloudy now but not raining. Can they survive a few days in the swim? |

Re: How long can baby bananas sit in water?
Truthfully, and I hate to say it, I think your bananas are in trouble. I've had one die from rot with the soil too wet, but even that wasn't standing water.
Are you able to dig up a few and let them dry for insurance? ~Joe |
Re: How long can baby bananas sit in water?
There are only about 10 that are really in deep. Im hoping tomw will be sunny and maybe some of it will dry up.
The weather is warm though- so far the plants don't look too bad thanks |

I hope for the best!

Thanks Joe Kylie and Greenie
Due to a combination of hot South Texas sun and scooping out excess water with Big Gulp platic cups they are all relatively dry now. No fatalities but a few died from too much sun (diff thread).

They can stand in water for months or years. Living in that much water is a different thing, and definitely not good.
