Floating/Sinking seeds?

Can anyone answer the question to, why do some seeds float and some seeds sink when soaking in water?

I might have to say it could really depend on the kind of seed you have
While in some isolated cases it might be true that floaters indicate a seed without a embryo.

Section Callimusa seeds do float naturally, whether viable or not. Generally if seeds float, it means they are no good, but it's not always the case.
