Last pic makes me wish I took a pic before I wrapped up 3 stems over 9', or got a pic in October @ least.. Initial post covers growth in 2012.. :^)

051013 After a hard spring this what is left.. I winterized the stem, which was wrapped w/ a heat-tape & plastic, and was removed 3 weeks before the last frosts, and main stem was lost..

Re: FHIA01 Goldfinger

Well I went to digging today.. Of the 3 stumps this is 2 of them and the other that's not depicted is as rotten as the one on the far side.. Winter was bad and Goldfinger didn't take it too good. As you can see there is one portion of corm that is still good and this will find itself in a 30 pot till it decides to do something. :^)

Darn it. With all the good wrapping you did? Are you using the Agribon 19 frost cloth or even thicker? If you wrap the plants, are you adding extra mulch on ground level? Just wondering if the frost got your plant "from the top" or "on ground level". If it is from the top, thicker Agribon frost cloth or your famous heat tape would be more helpful to prevent damage next winter.
Hope it is pulling through for you.

Well the main stem had a heat-tape on it and the stump that had the best corm left was the one that had not flowered but was directly south of the main stem. The heat-tape in a good winter is not enough (even w/ frost cloth) to protect a Goldfinger stem in my climate where it was located.. If I replant it will have direct protection from a North Wind by some means..
What I stated previously about the 2nd stump being not viable is mostly true. There was what looked like viable corm, where I pup had been but the stem withered to the weather, and a borer was eating it from the inside out..

I know people are looking for SH-3640's

You should inform the fellow about the high demand for the SH-3640,

he can just change the name from FHIA-01 to SH-3640.

It's not a Goldfinger so it might really be a SH-3640. :ha::ha::ha:
