Dwarf Brazilian Flowering now

Dwarf Brazilian
The dwarf Brazilian that I planted in ground this spring just flowered. I did not expect it to flower so quickly and just before winter. Is there anything that I can do to delay fruiting until the spring? What is the normal time period for the DB to fruit? I am assuming that once the flower forms that the plant is doomed to die anyway.
