Dogs
Besides taking a bamboo cane across your dogs ass, how do you keep your dog from bothering your nanners? She chewed half way through my Saba pup today !

Re: Dogs
I had the same problem. My dogs love the small banana pups. They step on the baby bananas, grab the young banana plants and shake and shred them. I had to put up a fence and separate them. :nanadrink:

Re: Dogs
I have also put the large tomato cages around the really small pups. It helps. It will stop the accidental tromping from the kids and dogs.

Re: Dogs
Fencing them off or caging them is probably your best bet. Be careful with mothballs as they are toxic if your dog eats them! Good luck!

Re: Dogs
I agree, NEVER use mothballs in a garden as they are toxic. A small decorative fence would work great and look good, unless "said dog is a Great Dane" and could stepped right over a fence LOL

Re: Dogs
Use a fence! My Ducks a few years ago would eat through the pstems (the BIG ones) and topple them over. .... However, a few weeks ago a neighborhood dog was chasing my chickens (& in the past Dogs has killed them ($2000 worth); he committed suicide by running in front of my 30-30. Sad, no one knows where the dog disappeared to. ..... So don't ???? with my chickens or Nanas .....

Back to the subject, I too have to fence my plants that reside outside of my deer fence because of my geese. They will pull apart a mature p-stem, strip by strip until nothing is left. Darn birds!! |
Re: Dogs
I tried to use mothballs but couldn't get the tiny legs apart...
{Rimshot} thanks I'll be here all week |

Re: Dogs
Sorry you had to deal with that, I do know how it feels to have animals killed by someone's dog and it sucks....I was very fortunate in that in my instance the owner came forward, a few days after the fact, and accepted responsibility. Sounds like you did everything right!! Some people really should not have animals!!
