One day I hope some one offers me a corm. The fruit look interesting.
I feel like mine looks just like this, how ever it has never plumped fruit that well. I can confirm it is NOT a Raja Puri. I have Raja and side by side taste test will confirm they are not the same. As well my Raja has had chocking issues where this guy never has.

It's just a Sucrier variety. Go buy some "baby bananas" at the grocery store and they will be exactly the same.

To me, the most distinctive trait of the Sucrier subgroup is the chestnut brown at the petiole bases. I'm sure there are other subgroups with similar coloration, but nothing common in the US.

This cultivar blooms at 9 months and you've probably been growing it for a couple of seasons.

It would be helpful if you posted a photo of the fruit or the mature plant, it should be around 12 foot tall.

Migael has been growing his for a full season and it's probably in the 7 to 10 foot range by now.

Dan, which cultivars did you want?

Be sure to leave a lotta space in that corner lot.

The Datil is a 12 foot plant that takes 11 months to produces a small bunch, it's not in my TOP 100.

To me, the distinctive trait of the Veinte Cohol subgroup is the chestnut brown at the petiole bases. Photos of it are nice and growing it is better, but it was the cause of my AA addiction/collection.

Right, so some AA varieties have chestnut brown at the petiole bases. None of the AAB varieties do that I know of, and certainly not Dan's "Datil" = Rajapuri.

My entire collection is for the purpose of seeing which varieties can even survive my microclimate- At this point I doubt I'll ever get fruit or full grown plants. We rarely have days up in the 80's (even in the middle of the summer) and usually get several freezes per year. Take a look in my gallery for pics, you won't see anything more than about 2 feet tall... it is a painful addiction, but my hope is to sort out differences based on raised beds (we get a lot of rain, and the ground is wet and cold 6 months of the year), unheated greenhouse, and large pots to see whether I can get any variety to acclimate and survive (thrive?) other than basjoo (which freezes to the ground but comes back each year).

Its lucky if its 3' now total height, but then again it was pretty weak by the time I got it and surprised its as big as it is now.. Things just grow slower up here. :^)

Datil La Lima and Raja Puri are two totally different plants, when you compare the two plants side by side you can see the difference and there's the p-stem size (12' Datil La Lima) (6'-7' Raja Puri) to see Raja Puri banana flowers go here What's blooming in your garden? (bananas).

Go to the ars grin website and pull up TARS 17413 and you find views of pstem leaves fruit etc. You can even order germplasm from them. Good luck getting the right one.
