Coldiest winter so far since growing bananas

Seems this winter will set back my grove of bananas a lot this year. Can only hope that they recovery and not die off.

Yikes, I just searched for the weather in Jacksonville and saw that your anticipated low tonight is 19F, with a low of 16F on Tuesday. Hope your nanners make it through OK.

I hear that! It's been abnormally cold here as well. Low 30's at night and 40-50 days. Lately 25 and 30-40 highs and some 50's. Claiming 19 for Saturday night. What the heck!

-5F with a -25F windchill yesterday morning. . .

Better than the -15F/-38F we had during the first polar vortex incursion a couple weeks ago. . .

I'm glad I only left 2 out in the ground this year, the rest are nice and happy under lights in the basement.

The temperature here even dropped to low 30s F on Sunday morning near freezing. That is far below average! The average high from December 1 to January 24 this winter is 77.7 F though. The average high in December was 80.5 F and January only 74.3 F so far. That feels a lot better than the extreme cold up north! I NEVER use my heater during winter.

No doubt it's been cold, our temps have dropped to the low 20s in the Caribbean.

No doudt this has been a very cold winter, my stuff will usually come back after being froze to the ground and it needed to be thinned back anyway but I am concerned about my Bamboo since I have a couple which are borderline for my growing zone, and they were quite expensive.

I probably lost everything above the ground on my DC; she was too tall for me to adequately cover. (Actually I wrapped pups and they aren't happy so I'm not sure it would have helped to protect her; we got down to 25F!) So I'll experiment and cut her P-stem possibly to the ground; I'll learn a lot and that's good. I'm so glad I didn't have a lot of bananas in the ground. Pups and plants in pots are doing fine.

My coldest winter so far too. It got to 59.5 F for a few minutes in the past week, with lows hitting 63 on a regular basis. At least the coquis have been quiet, and totally silent on a few dry nights.

local weatherman said not as bad today. it was -8 overnight. still better than the -20 tuesday.

Here in the UK we're having the warmest winter for years lol. I left some dragon fruit plants outside and they're still alive! I believe that it hasn't got below 25F so far and yesterday in my greenhouse it was 79F!
