Chinese Banana (Musella lasiocarpa) Yellow Lotus ?
Anyone here growing these? I found some 7-gallon pots on sale at the box stores last fall for only $15.00 each, and now that the cold snaps are gone i was going to plant mine in the ground. However there is no info on the pot that tells me about the recommended growing conditions, like; full sun, part shade, or what kinda soil it likes, watering etc etc.
Does anyone have some tips for growing? I wanted to plant them in full sun. But the soil i have is orange clay, what type of soil should I use? Do they like alot of water like other bananas? etc etc, any advice will help. I figured i would ask the experts on here as you guys are the diehards. :) These are new for me as im more familiar with Palms, & Alocasias. :0517: |

Re: Chinese Banana (Musella lasiocarpa) Yellow Lotus ?
i have about 7 i have overwintered outside this year( keep your fingers crossed) i do have one inside and i treat it like my other bananas. the one outside, had full west sun in the afternoon.(the 6 others were pups that i didnt get a chance to take off before the cold hit us) they should do well for you. just make sure your soil is well draining. you might have to ammend your clay soil to make it drain well.
