Default Can Bananas Cause Damage?

Hi Folks,

I got some musa basjoo last year and they came through winter like champs, I'm really enjoying them. This spring I got some Mekong Giant plants and will be putting them in the ground soon. From what I read the Mekong spread by long runners off the corm. I'm wondering if these can be destructive like bamboo?
I have some bamboo that caused some trouble with the driveway and I had to install a barrier. Are bananas capable of this kind of mischief?
I have a good place for them away from anything, just curious.

Thanks

I have been given a musa basjoo mat because "it is tearing up her patio". Actually, the patio is 1 x 2 foot concrete steeping stones. the spreading mat is lifting the stones. This is much different than bamboo.

I planted mine too close to the neighbors fence So I am digging several pups and the original corms on his side and "walking" the mat away from the fence.
