Hi all. I'm interested in using the banana circle concept but to support just one banana (maybe two max). I'm planning on digging a pit that is watered by my roof run off and planting a banana in the berm. A typical banana circle that accommodates 5 or so is dug 2 feet deep and 6 feet wide. If you were going to only plant one or two bananas in the berm, how deep and wide would you make the hole? Thanks in advance.

At that point you are really only trying to space your plants, and IMO they need to be about 6 ft apart.. so i would still say 6ft in diameter.

Thank you. What about for a single banana, then? I need to ensure the hole is deep and wide enough to hold enough moisture and organic matter. Any thoughts?

In my opinion, this method is best suited for multiple plants, so i would just say to prepare the planting site well with manure and compost, and heavily mulch to retain moisture. Capturing roof runoff in a rain barrel may be a better option for you. I have my bananas planted in a horseshoe pattern, and all the mulch, manure and plant trimmings go in the middle. No need to dig a pit IMO.
