Banana Corm Vs Banana Stem

Hi,
so, I've just taken a large water sucker off my plant. it had no roots and it was white. it was a clean-cut underneath the soil.
however, I can never tell if I got corm or just stem. I didn't get any photos stupidly. but how can I tell the difference? it was white plus I cut it at the base.
it was white is all i can say. it was a water sucker so I'm not too hopeful.

I've marked the plant to see if there is any growth. if not, ill dig it out and chop it up for mulch. but I'm taking a chance to see if it grows.

From my experience if you dig it up without a single root on it then it's going to die - no corm.

Some suckers angle away from the corm under the ground so they can be inadvertently cut without any corm on it.
What I do now is dig into the soil with my hands to find exactly where it's attached so I can cut it off correctly - no guessing.

I’ve put it in the ground and if it doesn’t grow I’ll dig it up Again. I still have the mother plant and other pups so no biggie. Is slightly annoying.
I would of done what u said but there’s an army of ants which kinda put me off that,
If this sucker grows then it’ll be cool.
I think ur right tbf but I’m marking growth with a pen on the new leaf to see what happens
