Banana Circle

Does anyone here use a banana circle to grow your banana plants? It seems a more common way to grow them in tropical climates, especially where the soil is poor. The center of the circle is basically used to mulch and compost waste to directly feed the plants, and other plants are used as companions to the bananas for various reasons.
