Just 4 months ago I bought a small T.C. Siam Ruby & Raja Puri for $15.00 plus $7.50 shipping (on EBay from Wellspring). What a deal HERE! Wish I waited.

Tog,

I felt sorry for you being left out so I just put a call in to my USDA rep to find out what the requirements are. I'll let you know what I find out.

Kylie,

The USDA offices that I have had dealings with have been very nice, and willing to help. It's when your up to no good that you should be ware. I tried to send some veggie seeds to a friend in Brazil who is trying to restore some of the native plants to his region. Unless I was willing to smuggle them in hidden in a package it was impossible according to Brazilian law. According to him a lot of the locals are clearing their native crops to grow crops used in hybrid fuels. There is more money in it.

Michael, actually the pain is on my side. The people at the agri dept or any govt dept are cranks. I had very bad experience dealing with them when I was doing reptiles. However this time, I am making my company sec to do all the running around for me. Agri-Starts does int export, and I can absorb the their quantity requirements. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Tog, I'd smuggle some in my suit case when I make my trip for us to go to the market in bk in December (just dreaming for now), but haven't heard yet if the prisons there serve good food or not. lol

Re: Agri-starts..

Richard-
You deserve innumerable favors from all of us who ordered (more like tortured!)

I see that the orders will be staggered-
When you receive information on when each variety/cultivar will come, can you post it? In addition, will our payments be staggered, or can we pay all up front? I know we can all trust each other, but I also know that I wouldn't feel comfortable waiting until the end of the multiple shipments if I were in charge anyway.

AgriStarts shouldn't be hurting from the economy now.

Re: Agri-starts..

Tog,

what kind of access do you have to getting plumeria? I have been trying to hook up with an asian grower so that I can get some of the new colors. It's amazing what the Thai growers are doing nothing like it in the states. I have a friend in KL that says he knows someone that may be able to introduce me, but I have not heard from him in several weeks.

Michael

P.S. foreign jails are nothing like U.S.jails (country clubs)

Re: Agri-starts..

Back on the topic of our AgriStarts purchase, I'm attaching copies of the order confirmations received today. Those of you who are anxious to calculate costs go right ahead -- keep in mind we have yet to see the FedEx charges for shipment from AgriStarts to my location. In particular, ignore the $0 entries for shipping. Oh and yes, I did edit the documents to remove some personal information, but I did not change any prices except on the plants that Taylor ordered. :D

Nope! But reading your comment about torturing me, I thought it would be fair game to tease you a bit. :02:

The torture wasn't intentional!

Michael, the best way to hunt down the new plumerias in Bkk is go to the nurseries there. They have so many varieties in the nurseries that they hybridize like crazy and many new, nice stuff are still not known to the market. There are just way too many. A few of the growers are working on the dwarf forms which do not grow more than 4-5ft in overall height. They look like a Jumbo sized adenium with a crown full of flowers. I have very good contacts in Bkk as I have been in-out there for more than 10 yrs. Nobody cares about plumerias here as the Malay grow them as grave markers!:ha:

Thanks Harv! :ha: I have seen films of the prisons there, definitely unimaginable! Still looking forward to meet you in Bkk though, without your suitcase full of 'naners. Just a note here, it is impossible to bring plants in through the airport there unless you have the contact. To take them out, they don't heck care. It's your side you gotta sweat!:ha:

Okay, Tog, I'll have to see if farming is good to me this year and see about permits, etc. and then start being extra nice to my sweet wife. ;)

Richard, it looks like more of them are coming in late April than I realized. I may be gone the week of your last shipment but back on 4/19 and you'd probably be shipping after that anyways.

Thanks, Richard, for doing such a great job organizing this!

Harvey

No problem! As each batch arrives, I will contact the folks involved individually to schedule shipments.

Gee, I haven't been getting any email updates, so I thought no one was posting! Wrong!

Richard, what happened to the Margarita and Rowe Red, not enough orders?

Please put me on the list for extras...
