Looks like you're doing a fine job with the banana growing in the Neatherlands! Keep it up!

Re: My Musa harvest for this year (no fruit unfortunately).
Dumb question. What is the clear tank (aquarium?) for?

Re: My Musa harvest for this year (no fruit unfortunately).
wow , you have a nice collection there.
I have the same question as Dean: How big were they when you planted them and how much do they grow ? |
Re: My Musa harvest for this year (no fruit unfortunately).
Thanks for the replies everyone!
All plants were about half this size or bigger when I planted them out last spring, but growth hasn't been really great due to a cool rainy summer. Next spring I will plant them in better soil, so they can grow a bit more, depending on the summer heat. The tank in the back is my brothers. He was cleaning it at the time, he is an aquarium hobbyist. Kind regards, Remko. |
Re: My Musa harvest for this year (no fruit unfortunately).
I think all of them should do fine for you in the ground in your zone, withn the exception of Musa cheesmani. It really isn't THAT cold-hardy, and needs plenty of heat to grow well. Not sure about M. nagensium, as I haven't tried that in the ground yet. If M. 'Tibet' is the same as M. 'Yangtze Valley', then it should also perform very well for you. My M. itinerans 'India Form' is showing some excellent promise as far as cold-hardiness so far.
