My Musa harvest for this year (no fruit unfortunately).
 

Just wanted to post a picture of the Musa species I dug out a few weeks ago.
I'll overwinter them in an unheated greenhouse, minimum of 5 deg C.

Some of them should be cold hardy but I wanted to play safe one more year.

Funny thing I noticed digging out the Musa itinerans 'India Form' is that it producec shoots downwards, almost like bamboo! I found out while digging, so most of them got damaged, and overwintering it like this in a pot won't do the pups any good either I guess...:2141:

Furthermore the nagensium and cheesmanni could actually be the same if you ask me, and the itinerans might just be a yunnanensis...I'll have to figure that out next spring,...taking more detailed pictures,...

How big were they when you planted them and how much do they grow ?

Thanks for the replies everyone!
All plants were about half this size or bigger when I planted them out last spring, but growth hasn't been really great due to a cool rainy summer.
Next spring I will plant them in better soil, so they can grow a bit more, depending on the summer heat.

The tank in the back is my brothers. He was cleaning it at the time, he is an aquarium hobbyist.

I think all of them should do fine for you in the ground in your zone, withn the exception of Musa cheesmani. It really isn't THAT cold-hardy, and needs plenty of heat to grow well. Not sure about M. nagensium, as I haven't tried that in the ground yet. If M. 'Tibet' is the same as M. 'Yangtze Valley', then it should also perform very well for you. My M. itinerans 'India Form' is showing some excellent promise as far as cold-hardiness so far.
