How's your Musa Itinerans doing? These are mine today. They either need to be planted in the ground or stepped up to bigger pots.

I killed mine. In a pot inside. Which is too bad cause I really wanted one. Pretty good hey?

I found them to be temperamental. Not to wet or not to dry.

I think it was too dry. At least it looked like dry rot set in.

I said temperamental because I'm using a sand based potting medium for those two. Which I need to get away from. I think using a peat based potting soil with some perlite would be better.

Eric, I did loose more seedlings than I have growing now. In fact I had a lot of Musa Formosana which took a nose dive earlier this year. The Musa campestris were finicky too. You would think because they are called a 'Swamp Banana' they could handle the wet conditions. I guess the cool conditions I had them in less than 50 F led to rot.

Got it Dean! That makes sense. How many Formosana and Itinerans did you get to germinate? I gave up on my Formosana ever germinating. I have no idea why but I couldn't get them to do anything.

That's really good you got about 10 each. I know what you mean about cool temps. I bet that is what happened.

Yes, I think so. At first I thought if it was above freezing all would be fine.
