the basjoo is the best one for in zone 6, but even the basjoo you have to protect if you want to save the P-stems when lower than 28 F.
a sikkeminsis can you try also, also a musella and a musa velutina.

Thank you so much I will have to try a musella or a musa velutina, I do have a basjoo and store it in the GH during the winter.

musa basjoo will survive winters in new york city with a rare temp drop into the single digits. I cover mine with bags of leaves for insulation but in an experiment, one clump survived winter without any cover and came back from the ground to reach a height of 15 feet before the frost:coldbanana:

My sister is in zone 6. I sent her Basjoo's a couple years ago. They have done excellent for her. She leaves them in the ground over winter. Just mulches them hard.

my dad has some growing in Connecticut (near New Haven). They usually pop out of the ground around May.
