Pot growing Musa Sikks

These were all seed grown last summer. They are really starting to throw out a lot of new leaves. I water them almost daily in this heat. I've got them mulched with grass clippings to help conserve some water. I really have to say i like the looks of the Sikks a lot more then the Basjoos. These actually have some color to them.

Don't be fooled by that baby. Its actually a robot.

lol, why would you want a baby robot? you'd be better off with a robot child who can help do work.

nice looking plants too.

Highly recommend growing from seed. I started mine in early spring last year and they started popping after a few weeks. For the price your getting a lot of plants.

No crying, no poopy diapers, takes naps all the time! Doesn't bit daddy's computer wires.

Frank,

Are those 'Red Tiger' sikkimensis? I tried growing some of them from seed and they never sprouted. Let me know if you decide to get rid of any...maybe we could do a trade.

Had two beautiful sikkis that perished last winter despite protection. My two lost the red color as they grew to about 8 feet. The were very strong growers and more attractive than basjoo. More 'bananalike' if that makes sense. The difference is, the basjoos are alive.lol

I have no idea what variety they are. I can post some closer pics and you can see if you can figure it out.

I do like the looks of them.

I've heard they lose that red when they get bigger? I have no idea what kind of size i'll expect by sept...hopefully 6ft or so...

that's true, when they get bigger they'll lose some color.
they are growing faster then basjoos with warm weather.
post a pic in september, i'm excited about how large they will be at the end of this growing season:D

My Musa sikkimensis already practically has lost all claret color. To it this hour of 10 months. The new leaf has no any spot. On a photo it is visible.

They do look like the 'Red Tiger' sikkimensis to me. I thought they retained their color, but I'm not 100% sure. Any chance you'd part with one?
