Musa Basjoo and "fungicide"
It was the coldest year in 19 years here in Reno, Nv. My musa basjoo is mush all the way to the ground. Should I apply a fungicide to it? Should I be watering it, or let it dry out?

Re: Musa Basjoo and "fungicide"
That's a good question.. :^) If its mush all the way to the ground I wouldn't water it ( well not right on top of it. If its really dry I'd water a foot out from the mush) so it can dry up, but this also helps your pups coming up get something without hurting the corm. Good Luck :^)

Re: Musa Basjoo and "fungicide"
Thanks Abnshrek, I will do that. How do you know when the roots have been killed? Is is just when nothing starts to come up by the end of April, May???

You should only water it if the ground is too dry. |
Re: Musa Basjoo and "fungicide"
I usually just cut and rot back to live tissue. If for some reason i cant get to it all I then use a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide to help clear it up.

Tom-
Be patient. Last spring here in DC was so wet, they all rotted down and I had nothing come up till mid- May - which for here was unheard of. Just wait - Boca Joe |
