basjoo fertilizer

OK, after reading the fertilizer wiki i am more confused than ever.

i have been feeding with 12-0-0 or fish fertilizer 2-1-1. i have many bananas coming up from winter dormancy and i am wondering if i should switch my routine.

i prefer to use all organics ferts, but have i been wrong all along using super high nitrogen?

thanks!

Re: basjoo fertilizer

If you want growth use fert high in Nitrogen but for overall balance growth of roots and leaves and not height use fert high in potasium like 6 12 27 with micronutrients.

Bananas need lots of Potassium to grow well...LOTS. They like Nitrogen also, so that's not wrong. They should receive about 3-4 times the amount of K than N or P. Of course, that's recommendations for bananas on plantations, not bananas grown for ornamental or landscape purposes that will not set fruit.
