If you can find one, get Paggi... great banana. It's difficult to describe, tart n sweet... Berry-ish flavor. Have you ever tried an apple banana (Manzano)? Many stores in Florida sell them. They are very different. So are Brazilians. There are a few ideas. Hope it helps.

Yes namwah can be just a bluish as Blue Java. Blue Java is not always super blue. It depends on growing conditions. I was trying to find the post where a ladies Namwah was identified by the experts on here as Blue Java in Tampa. Was not until she showed the flesh that nobody knew the difference.

I would say get a Mysore type. Excellent banana taste and will grow great in your area! If you like the sweet namwa you have, you may like a Musa Nino. For an excellent tasting fruity flavor banana get a Musa Iholena. Like the dwarf white, red, or Musa Tigua. Excellent banana! I hope mine make it for winter this year! Tigua is an amazing grower for me!

Re: Reccommended Varieties.
You have the real blue java! Very nice! Do you know where you acquired the plant from? Very nice bunches also. Very large for blue java!
About how long do they take to fill/ripen for you? 4 months or so? |
