Unknown banana plant
I decided to take a chance on a little banana plant that I found in a grocery store in Forks Washington. The tag says Musa sp. The nursery that grew this plant is Burnaby Lake greenhouse in Surrey,B.C. The plant has dark wine spots on the leaves. It has a cute little pup as well. The leaves seem to be bunched together. Looks a lot like my Truley Tiny, except the p stem seems skinny on this plant. Overall plant looks healthy. Any ideas? I will post a pict later on.
Thanks everyone. |

Looks like a Dwarf Cavendish to me, but I am not the expert here.

Re: Unknown banana plant
The leaves on DCs I purchased/have seen here don't seem to have leaves that close together and the splotches are much more evident. Did you contact the nursery? Welcome to Burnaby Lake Greenhouses Ltd. I ask because they seem to be a wholesaler and only list a few plants; a search for "banana" shows nothing. However, I purchased an unmarked pomegranate from Lowes in 2013 that was provided by a local wholesaler; they didn't list pomegranates on their site so I e-mailed them. They told me it's a Wonderful because that's the only type they propagate. Knowing how mislabeled Musas can be they might not know but it's still worth a shot to ask.
