Musa Balbisiana 'Gigantea'?
 

All hello! I here had such question. I have bought seeds Musa Balbisiana from our suppliers. They about them have no exact information, have told only that they have been collected in India. Seeds have sprouted also I has landed plants in a ground. It certainly, to all signs is Musa Balbisiana. But when they have started to become more, I have noticed that the pseudostem has more dark coloring. Probably it Musa Balbisiana ' Gigantea ' or other version Musa Balbisiana? Look please at pictures who had experience of cultivation Musa Balbisiana, I would like to hear your opinion. I have still thought. Dark color of a pseudostem can has appeared because of low night temperature in a greenhouse? I wait for your opinion.

My B. Gigantea has also darker stem colour. Not so dark as yours but kind of "dark bronze".

Those look like 'Thai Black', which is a form of balbisiana. They actually have more color than mine which I bought as 'Thai Black'.

All hello! I even find it difficult to answer this hour that it can be. Musa balbisiana ' Black Thai ' can grow in India? At younger age, my plants had no dark stains on a trunk. Hello Remko! I have understood about what you ask. Yes, at us in a botanical garden grows Manihot grahamii. Only I am not engaged in these plants. I don't have information about them. Though the supplier of seeds, could give me not the true information, and has sold as normal Musa balbisiana as simply buy seeds. And seeds can be from Thailand, instead of from India. But I, if am fair, even is glad to such error if it appears Musa balbisiana ' Black Thai '.

All hello! Has passed time and I have made new pictures. Till now I can not understand what is it?!? On a plant it is visible black stains, but whether it concerns to Musa ' Black Thai '? And on the other hand it isn't similar on regular Musa balbisiana.
It is closer to Musa Balbisiana ' Gigantea ' or Musa balbisiana ' Black Thai '. I wait for your opinion.

Hello, It doesn't look anywhere near dark enough for Black Thai. I have 2 that are growing in fairly deep shade and the stems are much darker than yours. There is so much variability in some of these, unless you are sure of your seed source it's rather hard to tell. Here's my big one:

months ago.. it sat for awhile..but now it has sent up a shoot ..its
about 10" long..and there are 2 side shoots now comming up..

Yes, I agree, coloring can be and more darkly and is more light. I have seen many photo Musa ' Black Thai ' and all of them different. It also misleads me. ChuckT, thanks for a photo, it simply handsome man at you! Dark color gives it the individual beauty.

It already very much isn't similar on Musa balbisiana ' Black Thai '. The plant has shown some puppies. They have a wax covering on a stalk, it is visible while the young. At an adult plant восковый the touch gradually disappears. What you will be opinion?
