Ladyfinger?

Ok, I know Ladyfinger can really mean anything, anywhere. That's what I purchased it as here as a tissue culture from Hilo-based Novelty Greens. It looks like an AAA type, with short, wide open petioles, somewhat fuzzy peduncle. It looks a lot like my Double Mahois (which haven't bloomed yet) with similar, thick leaves, but less of a corkscrew leaf emergence. It has bloomed at 6' tall, and took 20 months from planting to flower.

The most interesting thing is that the first hand has 31 fingers! My happy looking Williams has 21 on the the first hand. I've never had a banana with so many on any hand.

So who knows, is this a distinct type, or is it a first generation Double Mahoi or maybe a dwarf cavendish (which I haven't grown)?

31 fingers!

Cool. My impression was the same as yours -- most likely some Cavendish type. Perhaps not coincidentally, the "Ladyfinger" that Logee's sells is a Cavendish mutant obtained from Hawaii years ago. I wonder if the ultimate source of these two Cavendish "Ladyfingers" is the same.

Very interesting! My first Double Mahoi is about to bloom too so I'll be able to at least make some comparison soon. Also, not that it matters, but I think the tag was actually Lady Finger, but that is probably no different than Huamoa and Hua Moa.

Here it is a bit further along.
