It looks alot like my Ice Cream but from the pics it seems that they have an open petiole. Mine have more of a closed petiole.

It looks like the clone that is being sold in the US as Ice Cream, except for the open petioles. Mine has closed petioles.

CRAPOLLA Seems like Lowes purchases have been 0-4

Buying banana plants that are what they are marked as is almost as difficult of finding a good woman....lol :waving:

It's really difficult to get the real Ice Cream on the mainland....the only places on the mainland that I know of that have it are the San Diego Botanical Gardens and pitangadiego.

Heres another great place to get reliable labeled plants and good healthy plants! They have Ice Creams :0517: . Im sure there are plenty of others
Catalog of banana trees and banana plants offered at Going Bananas
And lots of people here on the list that I've noticed say great things about
Northern Tropics
Im sure there are lots more good reliable suppliers and the never ending listings here where peeps are wanting to trade of just sell a few good PUPS

I got my ice cream from Richard a ways back. Buy one from him. I also have Namwah and they would be issue to trick someone if you didn't know the difference. Can't tell what yours is,pics are hard and can't ever trust ID tags.

Hey as long as they are cold hardy who cares :) Now on you know to get something off someone on here. That way you can get the right kind. My boxes stores here by the beach only have Basjoo, and red ornamentals. But they want way to much and I have those. So I drive 45mins away to a awesome huge green house. They have atleast 12 different types and new ones.

Just from what I have read you really want know until it fruits. I have an ice cream too and it looks just like the apple at this stage. The Goldfinger looks a lot different.

Man! A lot of peeps plant bananas and end up scratching their heads when they bare fruit.. Myself included haha . I've been with people who see my plants blooming then want to get a “Plant in the ground” WOOOSH off to the box store they go . Walk over to the guy who was working at“Burger King” last month and he tells them exactly what's on that label :) ..... Hey it has to be correct ! A quick credit card swipe and out the door with plant and some “MIRACLE GROW” they go..
Truthfully it all works in the end... But if your wanting a specific type you really need to be patient and buy from people who can spell MUSA .. Hope I did not offend any one who works at Burger King! When I was a kid I worked at a place called Ranch House … I flipped my share of beef patties

What was that Burger King slogan? "Have it your way". Randy is right, you won't actually know until you get a bloom, and if it's PA instead, I'd wager you'll like the fruit better than IC.

Hey Bo,

My second Ice Cream that I got from you July 2010 is setting a bloom. I hope it is the right one we'll know soon if not we can try again. I thnk when we got mine there was some question as to which mat the pups were coming from.

If we did'nt get them mixed up, the best I remember is that "Davis Nursery" in Summerdale got a big shipment from south Florida and I got the the Ice Cream and Goldfinger on the same day. Also not for sure if Davis sold me a real Ice Cream or the fake, but I will be happy even if they are Pisang Awak. Once yours gets further along we will have a better idea. I believe these Ice Cream in Marshall Islands are true IC.

well mayor,

Maybe a call to the nursery with that SKU might shed some light. I doubt the nursery put the tag with the pretty picture on the banana.
